May 27th Activities dayat Cruck House, Baschurch. A day of various activities including flax retting, bird box making, making pizzas in an outdoor oven. Please bring a topping for any pizza you wish to make and contributions for a bring and share lunch.
June 24th Annual free (for members) day out to Tatton Park, Cheshire. Non members £8 entry. entry to the Farm, Mansion, Old Hall and Gardens. Ticket can be used on another day if one or more attractions are not visited. NT/RHS members free or part free entry. Coach leaves Abbey Foregate car park at 9am, departs Tatton Park at 5pm. July 1st 9 Darwin Gardens, Frankwell, Shrewsbury. 2-4pm Visit to Sharon & John Leache's garden, which includes part of Charles Darwin's childhood garden. Shropshire Wildlife Trust have launched a public appeal to buy the part of the garden which was once part of Darwin House. Sharon will give us a guided tour of her garden which includes fruit, vegetables & ornamentals. Entry £3 per person, to include tea and cakes in aid of the local church. No parking outside house, please park in Frankwell public car park & walk to house, approx a 10 minute walk. Booking essential by 25th June
July 8th Tankerville Farm, Pennerley. 2-4pm Visit to SOGS members Jon and Cheryl Kean's smallholding which they cultivate using permaculture techniques. Please bring cakes etc for tea.
August 10/11th Shrewsbury Flower Show
September 18th 6pm Leaton Lodge Gardens, Leaton, Bomere Heath. Please note early start for this evening meeting to see all of the gardens before darkness descends. A garden in compartments, includes a rose garden, an Italian garden, pond and veg garden.
October 7th 2-4pm Hopesay Organics, Glebbe Farm, Hopesay, nr Aston on Clun. Visit to Phil Moore's Soil Association accredited organic enterprise. Phil produces organic poultry, honey and vegetables which he sells at Shrewsbury and Moseley markets. An interesting opportunity to see how a local organic commercial grower does things. Please bring cakes etc for tea.
